The sound quality was actually very good, but the headset itself was terribly uncomfortable. The behind the head style of these headphones is not as effective as it is with smaller headphones because of the sheer weight.
I played plenty of competitive league matches with this headset before I moved on. Most often the mic would die, which was the part that I needed most.
Every set that I owned failed in the cord usually after 4-6 months. I gave this item a 3 star rating because it is honestly not a bad place to start if you're just getting started with serious gaming.
I owned maybe two or three of this item before I finally realized that I was just throwing my money away for the most part. No matter how much I wore them, they would always hurt my ears after a few hours.
Of every set of headphones that I've owned (and I've owned a lot) this is probably the worst.
I will never buy a Logitech headset again that's for sure. The problem always started with the volume control even though I never use it, but after month the right earpiece wouldn't even get sound unless you press down and hold the volume control. I have owned three different Logitech gaming headsets and they all were garbage after a couple of months. After opening the volume control up this time and seeing the cheap parts they used to make it I understand why it stopped working. Cheaply made plastic, and uncomfortable. I have had these for about two months, and they already broke. After another month they just stopped all together, and I was even extra careful with this one too since the same thing happened with the other two Logitech models I owned.
I think that this headset is great. After 5 hours of straight game play my ears were a little sore but I didn't see this as a big problem. I'm guessing that these other people are comparing this headset to the really high end $200+ headsets. My friends were impressed by the sound quality of my voice over Skype and I was impressed by the sound quality of the headphones when playing Modern Warfare 2.
Well, as of today, the second set is going out in the very same way. Eventually even this didn't work and they quit for good. I will never buy another set of Logitech headphones. The first one started shorting out. Now I am in search of a good set of gaming phones. I got another set because they were pretty much the only ones available at the store, and because I thought it might have been an isolated incident.
Both lasted approximately 6 months. I have owned two sets of these headphones. If I put pressure on the wire coming out, they would work. The left ear doesn't wok unless you apply pressure to the wire.
Overall this is a really good headset and will work for anyone that wants to do some gaming without spending 130 on a new g35 but doesn't want crappy gear either. definitely worth buying While the "open air design" helps, this wont keep you from sweating for hours if your wearing it right, simply because you can't have an open air design and have great noise canceling together. The behind the head design is alright for me but i guess thats a personal thing. I shouldn't hate on this though, i bought it for about 13$ while a brand new one is 30$(plus shipping/handling). I bought this knowing very well it was used, however in the description it said "like new", while everything works fine i must say it isn't "new" looking, i can distinctly tell the microphone jack has been repaired and paint has been chipped, its an older model then what the picture looks like as well. Its voice quality isn't crystal clear but good enough even for the gamers, sound quality is incredible, i might be over doing it a bit because im upgrading from a xbox 360 headset but i can definitely notice a difference in First person shooters. you can have one or the other, or 50% of both which is what is in this headset.
